Google’s store lists one configuration per Googlebook model at launch: 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. Google said at its media preview in New York that some Googlebook models will be offered with up to 32 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of storage, but those configurations do not appear on the official Googlebook website.
Googlebook battery figures come from Google’s controlled web-browsing tests, and Google states that real-world battery life may be lower. Google’s Acer Googlebook 14 product page lists up to 16 hours in its spec table and up to 14 hours in the page’s own description.

How the Five Googlebooks Differ
Every Googlebook carries a Glowbar, a multicolored light strip that lights up when the laptop powers on, and a keyboard with a dedicated Google “G” key that opens the app launcher. Google said the Glowbar also shows battery charge and reacts when the user talks to Gemini, and that Google will open a Glowbar API (application programming interface) so developers can use the light strip in their apps.
The Dell XPS Googlebook and HP Googlebook 14 use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite, a processor built on the ARM architecture used in phones. The Acer Googlebook 14, ASUS Googlebook 14 and Lenovo Googlebook 15 use Intel Core Ultra processors built on the x86 architecture used in most Windows laptops.

The Acer Googlebook 14 is the cheapest Googlebook at $899, and Acer said the $899 price is available for a limited time. ASUS Googlebook 14: $1,299
The ASUS Googlebook 14 is the only Googlebook to launch with an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, rated at up to 49 TOPS. The ASUS Googlebook 14 weighs 2.2 lb (1.00 kg), tying the Dell XPS Googlebook as the lightest model, and uses a 14-inch 2.8K OLED touchscreen. Google’s spec table lists the ASUS Googlebook 14 with a Titan C security chip, while the other four models list Titan C2. The ASUS Googlebook 14 links only to Best Buy on googlebook official website.
Dell XPS Googlebook: $1,199
The Dell XPS Googlebook is the smallest Googlebook and the only one with an LCD screen, a 13.4-inch 2.5K touchscreen. The Dell XPS Googlebook runs on a Snapdragon X Elite processor rated at up to 45 TOPS, weighs 2.2 lb (1.00 kg), and is rated at up to 18 hours of battery life. Google’s product page for the laptop also refers to it as the Dell XPS Googlebook 13. The Dell XPS Googlebook is sold through Best Buy and the Google Store.
HP Googlebook 14: $1,299
The HP Googlebook 14 has the longest battery rating of any Googlebook, up to 19 hours, according to Google. The HP Googlebook 14 uses a Snapdragon X Elite processor rated at up to 45 TOPS, a 14-inch 2.8K OLED touchscreen and a Titan C2 security module, and supports both fingerprint and face unlock. Lenovo Googlebook 15: $1,099
The Lenovo Googlebook 15 is the only launch Googlebook with a screen larger than 14 inches, a 15.3-inch 2.8K OLED touchscreen. The Lenovo Googlebook 15 is also the heaviest Googlebook at 2.84 lb (1.29 kg) and has the shortest battery rating at up to 13 hours. The Lenovo Googlebook 15 uses an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor rated at up to 47 TOPS, supports fingerprint and face unlock, and is sold through Best Buy and the Google Store.
What Operating System Does Googlebook Run?
Googlebook runs Googlebook OS, an Android-based operating system built for laptops. Google’s Googlebook FAQ describes the laptops as “a brand-new category of flagship laptops” that bring together ChromeOS and Android technology.
Google said at its New York media preview that Android apps run natively on Googlebook OS. ChromeOS, by contrast, runs Android apps inside a virtual machine, a separate software container that sits on top of the main operating system.
Googlebook OS includes the desktop version of the Chrome browser with support for Chrome extensions, a taskbar at the bottom of the screen, desktop widgets, and a file manager, Google said. The Googlebook pages on the official website do not use the name Googlebook OS as of 21 September 2026; Google introduced the name at the media preview.
AluminiumOS, was Google’s internal codename for Googlebook OS during development. The product image files Google publishes on the website still carry a “google-aluminium” prefix.

Can Existing Chromebooks Upgrade to Googlebook OS?
Google has not announced an upgrade path from ChromeOS to Googlebook OS for existing Chromebooks as of 21 September 2026. Googlebook OS ships only on the five new Googlebook laptops at launch.

What Gemini AI Features Does Googlebook Have?
Googlebook’s AI features run under Gemini Intelligence, which Google defines as the Gemini features built into its most advanced devices. Google lists Magic Pointer and Create My Widget as the headline Gemini Intelligence features.
- Magic Pointer: Wiggling the cursor turns it into a Gemini pointer, and selecting anything on screen lets the user ask about it, compare it, or create something from it, according to Google.
- Create My Widget: Create My Widget builds a custom desktop widget from a typed request, such as a live tracker for a trip, in Google’s demonstration.
- Magic Cue: Magic Cue offers suggestions based on what is on screen, such as creating a calendar event from dates in a message, Google said.

How Does Googlebook Work With an Android Phone?
Googlebook connects to Android phones through three features: Cast My Apps, Quick Access, and Continue On. Google states that Cast My Apps and Quick Access require a phone running Android 17 or later.
- Cast My Apps: Cast My Apps opens apps from the phone on the Googlebook without installing them on the laptop.
- Quick Access: Quick Access lets the Googlebook’s Files app browse files stored on the phone as if they were on the laptop.
- Continue On: Continue On lets a task started on the phone continue on the Googlebook, with the matching app appearing in the Googlebook taskbar, Google said.
Google’s switching guide sets out three setup steps: sign in to Google in Chrome on the old laptop so bookmarks, passwords and settings sync, upload files to Google Drive, then finish Googlebook setup by scanning a QR code with the phone.
Google’s Googlebook site describes phone integration for Android phones only as of 21 September 2026, and lists no iPhone features.
What Apps and Games Run on Googlebook?
Googlebooks run Android apps from Google Play, web apps in Chrome and Chrome extensions. Google said Googlebook apps come from the Play Store and the web, which means Googlebooks do not install Windows programs (.exe files).
- Microsoft Office: The Microsoft 365 app opens, edits and saves Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint files on Googlebook, and additional features require a Microsoft 365 subscription, according to Google’s FAQ.
- Creative apps: Google’s FAQ lists Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop and BandLab. Google also named Adobe Lightroom and CapCut at its preview.
- Streaming: Google’s FAQ lists Netflix, and Google said Disney+ supports offline viewing on Googlebook.
- Games: Google Play games such as Candy Crush and Clash Royale run on Googlebook, and PC games including Counter-Strike 2, Cyberpunk 2077 and Arc Raiders stream through NVIDIA GeForce NOW, according to Google’s FAQ. Google said half of the top 100 Android games are already optimised for keyboard, mouse and large screens.
- Developer tools: Googlebooks include Antigravity, Google’s platform for building apps with AI agents, and Antigravity includes a Linux terminal environment for command-line tools, Google said.
How Long Will Googlebooks Get Software Updates?
Google promises 10 years of Googlebook OS updates, but Google said the 10-year period starts from the launch of the processor platform inside each Googlebook, not from the date the laptop goes on sale.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite first shipped in laptops in 2024, which starts the Dell XPS Googlebook and HP Googlebook 14 on an earlier support clock. The Intel Core Ultra processors in the Acer, ASUS and Lenovo Googlebooks belong to Intel’s Panther Lake generation, which Intel launched in January 2026.
